famous song kolavari di

How and Why is song Kolavari  is being so famous??
YouTube’s search results for the `Kolaveri di ’ song are amazing. It is hard to pick the `original’ from the plethora of `kolaveri di ’ songs -the `reply cover version’, kids version by Naveen Nigam, the damn version, and many more. I was very excited to find this possibility-a song has initiated a dialogue, and that too a musical engagement. This I think are the new possibilities that the new media has brought into the field of music. Here  is not the two- way process that we are familiar with, between the music and the listener, but a number of activities in multiple tracks.

The ‘listener’ is more visible  now, and has more powers. He/she shares, likes, comments, makes his/her own videos and broadcasts them by herself/himself. I am not trying to jump into a sort of technological determinism, but approaching the shifts in the music field – in the making, listening, broadcasting and sharing of music. I would say that it is within this context that we have to reflect on the popularity of the `kolaveri di ’ song.
Yes, the producers of the movie might have  tried viral marketing. But isn’t there more than marketing and consumption here? It is a music video that is being shared and a big amount of internet activity created around it. Why do youtubers take such effort to interact with such music videos? I think internet music and mobile music have brought a new kind of way music- making, listening and sharing. `Ring tone ‘was a new form of music that came with the mobile phones. With music directors like A R Rahman entering the scene `ring tones’ were no more an alert tone for a call. They began to be considered as a music pieces. Airtel claimed that in 2009, Airtel users completed over 200 million music downloads. This was a surprise when film songs were the most popular music style in India, and later Nokia even launched an album titled `connections’ composed by A R Rahman. Now with the facilities of mobile phones the concept of sharing which is the main factor of `popular’ music became a reality. This audio space was different from the music hall, radio, television and had specific social dimensions. Similarly lot of shifts happened in internet music too. The `kolaveri’ video must be one that was specially made for the YouTube audience. Hence it is not the song itself that has made it so popular. And again it is interesting that it became hit among a multi-lingual audience. The song must have been offering different possibilities of interaction for different people. No one can give an easy answer to the question `why did kolaveri become so popular? I think we don’t need such an answer. But we could try to understand the tendencies.
Analyzing the politics of music is a complicated matter. It is never an easy matter like- a particular music piece carries a political message. But politics is connected or embodied in music structures, the habits of listening, making, and broadcasting and in the discourses about the music that defines and locates a particular style of music in the society. `Popular’ music has to be seen as a site of constant struggles and negotiations. We don’t need much effort to discover Kolaveri di’s `misogynist messages ‘.but I think we have to address its politics in its complexities and multiple dimensions.
At the right beginning, the song claims itself to be a flop song. Dhanush has repeatedly said that kolaveri di is absolute nonsense and the video is also made to confirm the `nonsensicality’. In the middle ,even the music instruments shows this nonsensicality by running `off pitch’. But this` out of pitch ‘notes become part of the fun here. This loose structure and the carelessness towards the rigidities of music could be one factor that attracts `us’. We have seen that singers with `imperfect ‘voices have made more impact these days’. May be this brings `music ‘closer. I think, regarding the politics of contemporary music this is a crucial move. The music reality shows at least in Kerala could be seen as an effort to recapture the `real’ /`pure’ singer (who is trained in classical music) in the contemporary society. The evaluation always circles round rigid rules and conventional ideas in music. The effort is to put the singers in right track /right pitch. The music of kolaveri ridicules these perfections. The question “rhythm correct’’ tells us that it doesn’t care about perfection.  And another interesting dimension is that the song disturbs the stereotype of the `Tamilian’.
Now coming back to the popularity of this song does popularity make a work of art` low’? I remember a similar situation in Kerala when a song titled ‘Lajjavathiye’ become one of the greatest hit in Malayalam film music history. It triggered a big amount of discussions than any other song could create. Anxieties were expressed  over youngsters falling for such `low’ music .One of the allegations was it didn’t suit`Malayalee’ culture. Some art film directors said that`  youngsters were dancing in the theaters like ” the people do in Tamil Nadu”. Malayali culture is most often defined against the other –the low Tamil. It was the beats ,that made the people to dance that sounded `Tamil’ in ‘Lajjavathiye’. The `popularity’ and the influence it made were seen as a threat. Liking a particular song or having a particular music taste is often `considered ‘as a reflection of one’s character or social status. In Kerala I have felt that  even now, appreciating `classical music’ or `classic ‘movie songs is considered respect-worthy, but liking western popular isn’t considered so. The` intelligent’ and the `mature/good’ listeners took pain to announce that they have not fallen prey to the` bad influence’ of `Lajjavathiye’. I think it is happening in the case of Kolaveri  di also.

Can facebook and other social media cause revolution in Pakistan and all over the world??

Can facebook and other social media cause revolution in Pakistan and all over the world??
“Ideas can be life-changing. Sometimes all you need to open the door is just one more good idea very well said by  Jim Rohn and while thinking about facebook and its life changing impact in our lives this quote automatically occurred to me. No matter whether somebody is a teenager or someone who is a business man can share the things they find interesting  and statuses they come up with.
Problem is that what kind of impact it has in our life usually teenagers waste a lot of their time using facebook throughout the day chatting with friends and posting useless things and remain involved in activities that are absolutely useless and time consuming.
If we just see the impact of the video that was of a famous scholar Doctor Aamir liaqat Hussain how fast was that spread throughout the world just because of social networking and facebook I would  not go into the discussion that whether the video was real or fake but the ones who made that video used it very effectively.
The question that raises is that if facebook is so famous that everyone is using it  and people from all over Pakistan and world use it so frequently so can it cause a revolution in Pakistan?? I think yes it can.
You come to know the things that is happening all over the worlds through different pages and groups and one can share his ideas and can know about the different perspectives of people  that was not possible before this social media and if somebody wants to spread some news so that news gets spread all over world especially during the current situation you must have witnessed the current procession of Imran Khan which was very  successful and it was just because of the fact that they had been able to do enough publicity of the jalsa on facebook and other different community portals and they same way MQM is party that has got a large number of pages on facebook and they make ceratin videos and share it on facebook to attract the voters all over the Pakistan specially they try to highlight success of story their mayor Syed Mustafa kamal and besides that the former president Parvez Musharaf  is using his facebook page for his party APML and these three parties are mostly using it and some other parties are also switching towards it like PML N and PPP.
The major advantage is that you connect to several people at a time and convey your message and it is making people conscious about what is going on in the world and in their country and this thinking might convert into revolution very soon.

The major cause of injustice and inequality in Pakistan is Feudalism

The major cause of injustice and inequality in Pakistan is Feudalism
Pakistan came into being in 1947 and the purpose of this newly born nation was to openly practice Islamic ideology ,yet that does not mean that Quid-e-azam wanted a strictly extremist Islamic state he did focus on the fact that the minorities have the equal right to practice their religion and beliefs and several approaches of Quid e azam were opposed tooth and nail by Islamic fundamentalists during the division of subcontinent.
After the separation India did its land reform in 1953 and it was a part of Congress’s agenda and hence India became a feudal-free state just after the few years of Independence and after the demise of Quid-e-azam Muslim league was Unfortunately hijacked by Feudalists   and the major parties became the feudal parties and the concept of conventional politics overwhelmed in the country and Pakistan became a feudal state where there was a rule of feudalists and because of being in power they could do everything with impunity.
Let’s have a birds eye on the history of these feudal in the subcontinent after razing mughlia state Britain took over the whole subcontinent and  dominated it for almost 90 years when they were going to leave this subcontinent they awarded these land properties to the ones who supported them  and remained loyal to them during freedom movement and this way the supporters of British rulers became  feudal  and after the division of subcontinent they hijacked all the political parties and now the major political parties are all feudal parties except the few ones.
This feudal system caused inequality in the society especially in the education sector where there are now different educational standards for different people belonging to different classes elites have O and A level standards and there is Agha Khan board ,Federal board and many other boards and the children of downtrodden poor people  study in the schools whose condition is really miserable and the students belonging to lower middle class and poor class have less opportunities to study in the high profile and prestigious educational institutes because of their high expenses.
As feudal are just 2% and 98%  people belong to poor class ,lower middle class and upper middle class so these feudal after getting to assemblies never protected the rights of common people and they never let the common people get to assemblies such a system was formed that one needs at least  50 millions just for contesting elections  so the rank and files of the country cannot even think of contesting those elections let alone winning them and because of strong feudal dominance in the interior areas of Sindh and Balochistan where people are the bounded labor of these fuedals so they cannot vote for any other one except the feudal they work for and  in those areas feudal make their own states and their own laws and  they rape the women of poor farmers and they do what they want with impunity under the patronage of Police because they are all in all of those areas and they are also the elected representatives of their areas.

A heavy majority of  the members of  assemblies fall in this category ,yet there are few parties like  who are against this feudal system and conventional politics but the number of   non feudal are mite in cheese in  the assemblies.

If  Pakistanis gird up their lions and set their face against this system so they can not only eradicate this system but also rule of law and a system based on equality can also be possible.

It is hard when I have to, and so easy when I want to

It is hard when I have to, and so easy when I want to
                                                                               (Annie Gotlier)
This quote is all about the motivation of a person and attitude towards certain things in life and when he is really keen on in doing  something so he does that thing very easily because he tends to do it and he takes interest in doing that thing but on the other hand when he is not interested and he takes his work as a burden so it becomes very difficult for him to accomplish the task and at last his life becomes miserable while doing that task and he gives up that task or does it miserably.
When you are using “have to” somewhere so that means you are doing something forcibly or you are being made to do that thing forcibly and you are not at all willing to do that thing you have no interest in doing so you do not enjoy your work  and on the other hand when you use “want to”  that shows your desire that you are really willing to do something you are not being made to do that forcibly and you really enjoy working no matter  what time it is and what place it is how much work you have to do.

This is the main reason of failure of most of the students in professional life that they are forced to do what they do not want to do  for example if a student is very much interested in painting and he wants to take admission in fine arts but his parents force him to choose either engineering or medical so he has to choose  either of these two fields and as he is not interested in that thing  so these things do not attract him and he never enjoys learning  bio or physics or chemistry so it sometimes become very difficult for him to survive and even if that student manages to get the degree from the university he is never ever able to excel in that field because that field is not his field of interest.
When we talk about the big names of the world who were or who are the masters of their fields like Sachin Tendulkar ,Lata Mangeshkar ,Allama Iqbal ,Umar Sharif ,Gul Jee and all others if they had  not been in the fields they excelled in ,would they have made their marks  ?? of course no.  They got the success or I should say success attended them i was just because they recognized their talent and they chose the right field for themselves during an interview Gul jee was asked a question by an interviewer that” you keep on painting throughout the day and you take rest hardly 4 to 5 hours a day so don’t you get tired ?? and don’t you feel like relaxing” so he replied “Painting is my passion. It is no more a work for me I don’t find any other activity as interesting as painting” so this was his level of interest this took him to height of success that his paintings are famous all over the world.
You must have heard the teachers repeatedly saying in the class to build some interest in courses being taught throughout the semester  or I should say throughout the  degree program it is just because they know and they have learnt from their experience that when you do something with interest you find it easy and interesting and when you take it as burden it becomes cumbersome  and you usually get bad grades in those subjects.
So always try to take interest in the things you do in life it will not only make you life easier but also will help you to do that task effectively.
